I could not be happier that in the hyperdigital 21st century, everybody loves to make zines. They are a unique and delightful artform: little tiny books directly from the author’s heart and mind, relatively unmediated, and with distinct points of view. To quote a wise child, “a zine can be anything.” Zines can be made from a single sheet of paper and literal garbage or recycling, or be a high-end professional-booklet or art book or anything in between or beyond.

My own preference is for the perzine: personal zines, stories of tragedy and triumph and imagining what could be. I am a prolific zinester, especially with the one-sheet minizine that has gained exponential popularity in the 15 or so years since I’ve been running focused hands-on zine workshops. As always, the more the merrier. No two people could author the same zine.

I am available to consult on zines, zine libraries/storage/archiving, to talk about zines, and to conduct hands-on workshops, which I have done regularly since the 2010 or so. I have been on zine-related panels at Moore College of Art and Design and Skidmore College, among others, and have hosted workshops through Moore, Skidmore, the Soapbox Philly, the Free Library of Philadelphia system, and more.
